GROUP TOURS FOR ADULTS

Bring history to life by taking a take a tour of Bartow-Pell through a guided exploration of the mansion and grounds.

Discover the many layers to Bartow-Pell’s history through house tours that focus on the architecture, period rooms, and history of the mansion and its inhabitants with a visit to the carriage house or stroll the site to see the formal gardens, native American planting beds, wildflower meadow, organic vegetable garden, Mary Luddington Herb Garden, and memorial site of the Pell family headstones.

Tours are offered by appointment to groups of ten or more, and can be scheduled seven days a week, except during walk-in hours on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays between 12 and 4 p.m.

Guided tours are approximately one hour.

There is a minimum charge of $150 for groups of ten or less people. Two weeks advanced registration is required.

GROUP TOUR PACKAGES

Mansion & Carriage House Tour

Adults: $15.00   Seniors: $12.00
Tour size: Minimum 10, Maximum 50

Guided house tours focus on the architecture, period rooms, and history of the mansion and its inhabitants. The tour includes a visit to the carriage house. It is approximately one hour. There is a $150 flat rate for groups of ten or less.

Garden and Grounds Tour

Adults: $15.00   Seniors: $15.00
Tour size: Minimum 10, Maximum 50

This tour takes you on a stroll of the site and highlights the many layers of the museum’s history from the pre-Colonial Lenape era to the 21st century. The tour includes a visit to the Pell memorial plot site, formal garden, Mary Ludington herb garden, wildflower and children’s garden. The tour is approximately one hour. There is an $150 flat rate for groups of ten or less.

Tour & Tea in the Conservatory

$40.00 per person
Tour size: Minimum 10, Maximum 24

Chose to take either the Mansion and Carriage House or the Gardens and Grounds tour then enjoy some conversation and light refreshments (tea, scones, and biscuits) in the conservatory. Afterward, attendees may take a self-guided tour to areas of the site they missed. The program is approximately 2 hours long.

ACCESSIBILITY

The mansion has two floors and no elevator. Five steps lead up to the building entrance. Guided tours involve walking and standing, but there is limited seating in select rooms. The building does not have air conditioning.

ESL GROUPS

Take your ESL adult class on a field trip! We welcome ELS students and also offer guided tours in Spanish with advanced notice.  Students of varying English levels will benefit from a guided tour of this historic site. Open-ended, inquiry-based tours will get everyone talking in order to increase their language proficiency.
