May 17 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Join Museum Educators Maxine Siegel and Joseph Mancuso for a special, members*-only tour that delves into the architectural legacy of the Bartow-Pell Mansion. As part of our nation’s 250th anniversary celebration, this guided experience offers an insider’s look at the Mansion’s striking late Federal exterior and Greek Revival interiors—styles embraced by a young America seeking inspiration from ancient Greece and the ideals of democracy.

Discover how proportion, rational planning, balanced composition, and classical detailing shaped the Mansion’s identity. Learn why these features—right down to the building’s elegant quoins—embody the aesthetic values of the 19th century and continue to define Bartow-Pell as a singular example of early American architecture.

After the tour, enjoy light refreshments in the Orangerie, a beautiful garden space that perfectly complements the classical elegance of the house.

This event is exclusive to members at the Heritage level and above. Registration required.
